Judge link

The private page each judge uses to review and score their projects.

URL/j/[token]WhoJudges, via their private linkFind itSetup › Judge portal › Judge links

Every judge gets a private page where they work through the projects assigned to them and score each one. Judges don't need an account: the link itself is their key. This page covers what judges see there, so you can set it up and answer their questions.

Get a judge's link#

Each judge has a link from the moment you add them. You can copy it from:

  • Setup › Judge portal, on the Judge links tab. Each judge has copy and open buttons, and Copy all links copies every judge's name, email and link at once.
  • Setup › Judges, by opening a judge. The link is under Judging link.
  • Judging › Progress, next to each judge.

The same link works in every phase. It always shows whatever that judge has in the phase that's running. RoundOne can also email judges their link when a phase starts, if outgoing email is set up. See Configuration.

Anyone with the link can score as that judge

Send each link directly to its judge. If you open a judge's link yourself to check it, any score you submit is saved as that judge's score.

Replace a link#

If a link leaks, click New link next to the judge and confirm with Make new link. The old link stops working straight away, so send the judge the new one. Anyone opening the old link sees This judging link doesn't work, with a note to ask the organizers for the current one.

What judges see#

The page uses your hackathon's color and logo from Branding. The top bar shows the hackathon's name, the judge's progress, and their name and photo.

Start screen#

When a judge opens their link, they see:

  • The phase name, plus the round number if you have more than one phase.
  • Your headline, or "Welcome," followed by the judge's first name.
  • How many projects they have, or how many are done and how many are left.
  • Your welcome message and the Remember the goal list, if you set them.
  • A Start judging button, which reads Keep going once they've scored something, and a rough time estimate.
  • What you'll score: each criterion with its weight, marked pass / fail or must pass where that applies.
  • Their project list, with a check and score next to each one they've finished.

You write the headline, welcome message, goals and finish message on Setup › Judge portal.

Scoring a project#

Each project opens on its own page. The left side shows the project's name, pitch and every field the team submitted. The right side is the rubric, headed Your scores:

  • A 1–10 score, or Pass / Fail, for each criterion, with its weight and description. Gate criteria carry a gate badge.
  • A running weighted total.
  • A Notes box, up to 4,000 characters.

Judges have to score every criterion before they can submit. The button shows what comes next: Submit & next, or Submit & finish on the last project. Arrows in the top bar move between projects without submitting.

Projects come in a different order for each judge, so the panel doesn't all start on the same few.

The agent's scores#

If Show agent score is on in Distribution and the agent has reviewed the project, the button reads Submit & see the agent's. After submitting, the agent's verdict appears next to each of the judge's scores, and gaps of 2 points or more, or a different pass/fail, are flagged. The judge can change their score once. After that change, the score is final.

Finish screen#

When everything open is scored, the judge sees All done!, your finish message, and their scores. They can still reopen a project and change a score until you close the phase.

With Daily batches, projects are released over several days. After finishing a day's batch, the judge sees All done for today, when the next batch opens, and a Judge N more now button to start it early.

When there's nothing to score#

MessageWhy
Judging hasn't started yetYou haven't started judging.
Nothing to judge right nowOne phase has closed and the next hasn't started.
Nothing for you in this roundA phase is running, but this judge has no projects in it.
Judging is overThe last phase has closed.

Rules#

  • A score saves only when the judge submits it.
  • When the agent's scores aren't shown, a judge can change a submitted score as often as they like until the phase closes.
  • Once a phase closes, its scores can't change.
  • If you take a project out of judging, it disappears from judges' queues.
  • Judges see only their own queue. They never see other judges' scores.

Share with your judges#

You can paste this section into your invite or send judges this page.

  • Your link is private and personal. Don't forward it: anyone who has it can score as you.
  • There's no account or password. Open the link on any device, and bookmark it. The same link works in every round.
  • Score every criterion, then submit. Nothing saves until you do.
  • Use Notes to say why you gave a score. The organizers read them.
  • You can change a score until the round closes. If the agent's scores appear after you submit, you can change yours once.
  • If your link stops working, ask the organizers for a new one.
