Judges
Add judges, group them, and give each one a private link.
/h/[slug]/setup/judgesWhoSigned-in organizersFind itSetup › JudgesThis page is the hackathon's judge directory. Add each judge with a name, title, email and photo, sort them with custom fields like Company or Track, and save groups you can hand a judging phase to. Every judge you save gets a private link to score their queue. Judges don't need an account.
Add a judge#
Open the drawer#
Click Add judge in the page header. With no judges yet, click Add your first judge.
Fill in their details#
Only Name is required. The fields are described below.
Save#
Click Add judge in the drawer footer. To edit a judge later, click their card, change what you need and click Save.
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Photo | Drop an image on the avatar, or click Upload photo. PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, under 20 MB. Square headshots look best. Without a photo, the judge gets a pixel avatar. |
| Name | Required. Up to 120 characters. |
| Title | A role, such as Head of Developer Relations. Up to 160 characters. |
| Where their judging link goes. Optional, but two judges in one hackathon can't share an address. | |
| Custom fields | One chip row per field. Pick one option, or click the New … chip (such as New company) to type a new option on the spot. |
| Groups | Click a group to add or remove the judge. A judge can be in several groups. |
If you have a group open or field filters on when you click Add judge, the new judge starts in that group with those field values.
Closing a drawer with unsaved edits asks Discard changes? first.
Judging links#
Once a judge is saved, their drawer shows a Judging link in the form /j/<token>, with buttons to copy it and open it. The link opens that judge's queue with no sign-in, so anyone who has it can score as them. Send each link directly to its judge.
If a link leaks, click New link and confirm. The old link stops working straight away, so send the judge the new one.
When a phase starts, and email is set up on your server, every judge with an email address and projects in that phase gets their link by email. The Judge links tab on Judge portal lists every link in one place, with Copy all links.
Custom fields#
Custom fields are your own labels for judges, like Company or Track, each with a fixed set of options. Use them to filter the directory, group it, and build judge groups faster.
To set them up, click Add a field under Fields in the sidebar (or Edit once you have some). In the Custom fields drawer:
- Click Add field and give it a name, up to 60 characters. Field names must be unique.
- Click Add option to add each option, up to 80 characters. A field can't have the same option twice.
- Click the trash or x icon to remove a field or option. Judges who had it lose that value when you save.
- Click Save fields.
The number next to each option is how many judges have it.
Groups#
A group is a saved set of judges, such as a final panel. On Phases you can give a whole phase to one group instead of all judges.
- Click New group in the sidebar. If a search or filter is on, the button reads Save N as group and starts the group with the judges you're looking at.
- In the drawer, give the group a Name (up to 60 characters) and tick judges in the Judges list. Search and the field chips narrow the list, and Select all (or Select N matching) ticks everything shown.
- Click Create group.
Click a group in the sidebar to see only its members. Click Edit group in the header, or the gear icon next to the group, to change it.
Find judges#
Above the directory:
- Search judges… matches names, titles, emails and field values.
- Each custom field gets a filter. Its last option, No …, finds judges with no value for it.
- Group by splits the directory into sections by a field or by group.
- Grid shows photo cards. List shows a table with email, field values and groups.
Clear resets the search and filters.
Delete judges and groups#
To delete a judge, open them, click the trash icon in the drawer footer and confirm Delete judge. They're removed from every group and their photo is deleted. This can't be undone.
To delete a group, open it the same way and confirm Delete group. Its judges stay in the directory.
