Judge portal
The start and finish screens judges see on their private link, and every judge's link in one place.
/h/[slug]/setup/portalWhoSigned-in organizersFind itSetup › Judge portalThe judge portal is what a judge sees when they open their private link. This page sets the words on its start and finish screens, shows a live preview, and lists every judge's link in one place.
The page has two tabs: Portal settings and Judge links.
Portal settings#
Everything here is optional. Leave it blank and judges still get a working portal with a greeting, their queue and the criteria.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Headline | The big heading on the start screen. {name} becomes the judge's first name, as in Welcome, {name}. Leave it empty to greet each judge with "Welcome" and their first name. Up to 120 characters. |
| Welcome message | A note from the organizers under the headline. Up to 2,000 characters. |
| Remember the goal | Up to 8 short points judges read before they start, 200 characters each. Click Add a goal to add one. You don't need to repeat the criteria: judges see those anyway. |
| When they finish | A message on the finish screen, such as when winners are announced. Up to 1,000 characters. |
Click Update in the page header to save. Empty goals are dropped when you save. A dot on the Portal settings tab means you have unsaved changes.
The Welcome message and goals also appear in the email judges get with their link when a phase starts, if email is set up on your server.
Preview#
The preview beside the form updates as you type. Switch between Start and Finish to see each screen. It uses your first judge's first name, a few of your real project names, the running phase (or the first one before judging starts) and your cadence from Distribution.
What judges see#
The start screen shows, from top to bottom:
- The phase and round, such as "Group review · round 1 of 2".
- Your Headline.
- How many projects they have to judge. With daily batches, it counts today's and says how many more open over the coming days.
- Your Welcome message and Remember the goal points.
- A Start judging button (Keep going once they've begun), with a time estimate of about 4 minutes per project.
- What you'll score: each criterion with its weight and rubric. Pass/fail criteria are marked pass / fail, and gates must pass.
- Their projects, with a check and score next to each one they've done.
The finish screen appears once they've scored everything open to them. It thanks them, shows your When they finish message and lists their scores. With batches still to come, it offers the next batch early. Otherwise it tells them they can still change a score until you close the round.
For how judges score from there, see the judge's page.
Judge links#
The Judge links tab lists every judge with their link, /j/<token>, and buttons to copy it, open it, or make a New link. The count on the tab is how many judges have a link.
- A link opens only that judge's queue, and anyone who has it can score as them. Send each one directly.
- If a link leaks, click New link and confirm. The old link stops working straight away.
- The same link works in every phase. It shows whatever that judge has in the phase that's running.
Copy all links copies one line per judge with their name, email and full link, separated by tabs, ready to paste into a spreadsheet.
To add judges, go to Judges. Each one gets a link when you save them.
