Branding sets how the hackathon looks: its name, logo, primary color and banner. They show up on your own admin pages for the hackathon and on everything entrants and judges see, from the submission form to the winner emails.

Fields#

FieldWhat it does
Hackathon nameThe same name as on General. Required, up to 120 characters.
LogoDrop an image on the logo tile, or click Upload logo. PNG, JPEG or SVG, under 20 MB. Square logos look best.
InitialsShown on the brand color until you upload a logo. Up to 3 letters. Leave it empty to use the name's initials.
Primary colorPick one of the ten presets, or click Custom color to choose any color or type a hex value.
BannerA wide image, center-cropped to 8:3. Drop it on the banner area or click Upload banner. Under 20 MB.

Without a banner, a pixel-art cover in your primary color fills that space instead.

To take an image off, click Remove next to it and confirm. Without a logo, your initials show on the brand color. Without a banner, the pixel-art cover comes back.

Save your changes#

Click Save branding at the bottom of the form. Images upload as soon as you pick them, but nothing changes for anyone else until you save. The button reads Saved once it's done.

Live preview#

The right side of the page previews your branding as you change it:

  • A judge's scoring screen, with your logo, name and color on the buttons and score bars.
  • The top of your public winners page, with the banner or pixel-art cover, and its address, /w/<slug>.

Emails don't use the banner. They use the pixel-art pattern in your color, with the logo on top.

The name appears in all of these places too. Renaming the hackathon doesn't change its URL: see General.
