General

Name, tagline, dates, stage, whether the winners page is public, and deleting the hackathon.

General holds the hackathon's basics: its name, tagline and dates, which stage it's in, whether the winners page is public, and the option to delete it. The page header shows the hackathon's admin address, /h/<slug>.

Details#

FieldWhat it does
NameRequired, up to 120 characters. It's the same name you can edit on Branding.
TaglineOptional, up to 200 characters. It shows on your hackathon list and the submission form. The agent also reads the name and tagline for context when it judges.
DatesThe start and end dates. The end can't be before the start. They show on your hackathon list and the winners page.
StageSetup, Judging or Results. See below.
Winners page is publicMakes the public winners page, /w/<slug>, visible to anyone. See below.

Click Save changes to save. Saved appears next to the button when it's done.

The hackathon's URL#

The slug in /h/<slug>, /w/<slug> and the other addresses comes from the name you gave the hackathon when you created it. If another hackathon already had that slug, a short random suffix was added. Renaming the hackathon later doesn't change its slug, so links you've shared keep working.

Stage#

The app moves the stage for you as judging goes along:

When you…Stage becomes
Start judging on ProgressJudging
Close the last phaseResults
Reset judgingSetup

The stage decides which area opens when you go to /h/<slug>, the badge on your hackathon list, and whether you can publish results from Winners, which needs Results. You can also set it by hand here.

Winners page#

Winners page is public is the same switch as Publish results on Winners. There's one difference: Publish results only works once the last phase has closed, and this checkbox doesn't check.

Publishing makes the page public. It doesn't send any emails: you send those separately from Winner emails. Resetting judging takes the page down again.

Delete the hackathon#

Under Danger zone, click Delete and confirm Delete hackathon. This removes the hackathon for everyone, including its public winners page, and takes you back to your hackathon list.

Heads up

Deleting a hackathon can't be undone.
